University of Texas at San Antonio
With nearly 18,400 students, UTSA is one of the state's fastest-growing universities. UTSA's 1604 Campus is located on 600 acres in northwest San Antonio, a metropolitan area of 1.3 million people. A new 11-acre Downtown Campus serves more than 3,000 students. Phase III of the Downtown Campus will be under construction this summer. Work on a new recreation and wellness center and new academic building at the 1604 Campus also will begin soon.
   
   
St Mary's University
St. Mary's University, founded in 1852 by Marianist brothers and priests, is the oldest and the largest Catholic University in Texas and the Southwest.
St. Mary's is a liberal arts institution with an enrollment of just under 4,200 and a student faculty ratio of 17 to 1. Degree programs are offered from three undergraduate schools and two graduate level schools. The University houses the only law school in the area.
 
   
San Antonio College
San Antonio College is a public community college which provides for and supports the educational and lifelong learning needs of a multicultural community. As a leader in education, San Antonio College is committed to excellence in helping students reach their full potential by developing their academic competencies, critical thinking skills, communication proficiency, civic responsibility and global awareness.
 
 

University of Texas Health Science Center
Some 3,000 students per year participate in programs offered by The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio's five schools:

  • Dental School
  • Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
  • Medical School
  • School of Allied Health Sciences
  • School of Nursing

The five schools offer degrees and certificates in more than 20 programs in the biomedical sciences and health professions. Many of these programs are made available to the South Texas border region via distance learning technologies.
